Horses

Finally, my webiste is ready for the public. After 2 months of hard work by 2 guys who, with their simplicity and will to help, could prepare everything for it to be ready on time.
I would like to thank specially to Cristovao, a person who became my friend throughout these past months. His indications, suggestions, tips, etc were decisive for the website.

Thank You.

Nevertheless, time does not stop, and here I am ready again to new paintings, new exhibitions.I will start soon a serie of paintings with horses.Adapted to my own vision and style, horses can and should be painted. They are terrific animals, handsome, strong and noble.\

Oils Oudt Hollandse

In all these years I've been an artist (not that many yet..) I have came across different materials, types of oil colours, brushes, etc.I always try to look for the best quality materials, the ones who provide the same colour effect .
Of all the ones I've used, it's undeniable the great and extreme quality of the OUDT HOLLANDSE oil colours.

The first time I came across this brand was here in Holland, but if we take a look to their website, we can see that they export to more than 50 countries, and they are even use to restauration purposes by museums worldwide.

As to me, I can say it's worth it every cent of hat it cost. Some tubes og 160ml can reach 160 Euros, and even thought maybe it's too much for amator artists, or at least to use it has a hobby, to use in your daily basis is a remarkable experience.

Here I leave you with their website, where you can see the process of making it, as well as the history of the company based in Driebergen.

I decided to start a new serie of 8 paintings.

This one, about a social subject that caught my attention: the "burcas". "A burqa (Arabic pronunciation: [ˈbʊrqʊʕ, ˈbʊrqɑʕ]a; also transliterated burkha, burka or burqu' from Arabic: برقع‎ burquʻ or burqaʻ) is an enveloping outer garment worn by women in some Islamic traditions to cover their bodies when in public."

I believe it's a lso a way to cut liberty and freedom of expression from women who can't or are not allow to express themselves , to culture themselves, or even to show themselves in a public.
With my paintings I want to show the "burqa' , but worn by women who have nothing to do with islamic culture.

For instance, a woman from Portugal, or from Mexico, or from Argentina, but all of them become " the same". or become " invisible" by wearing that piece of clothes in their heads. What I try to express with this is the anguish, the lack of expression they have, even though they belong to different countries.

As for now, I'm working on my first one:

Annalisa

"Annalisa on the Chess"

Annalisa is a girl from Italy, who I've met a few years ago in Amsterdam.Even thought I have never seen her again after she departed from the Netherlands we continued at some point maintaing contact and because she likes what I paint she comissioned me a painting where she's lying on the beach.

When I paint I always try to get information from people, so my paintings have always a meaning, a deeper meaning, and that usually works better when I know the person and/or I already know what I want to paint and have the drawing in my head.

With this painting, I had to follow different pictures and try to see the meaning of "Annalisa"

So I've been working on these last two paintings lately:

The first one, reflects a girl, laying on a floor, a beach maybe, together with her " chess game". her life is a chess game, and she must move pieces correctly.

The second one, is a girl laying among Lisbon, among my city, being absorved by the city trams, by the walls, the streets.

International book of Art

Recently I have been trying to give my career a boost, it's not enough to be a good painter, but you also need to be part of a system that allows you to sell more often..One day, while thinking about this, I received an email that was inviting me to be part of a Annual book of artists, and which the advertisement is "Artists from all over the world present their works in a museum quality art book".

I always try to see if there are any scheme behind it, for artists who want to sell and have an illusion that they will make a living out of it, it's not hard to get them into participate in Exhibitions in which they have to pay everything, without no guaranty that they will actually get something in return. Once, I have spoken to an Art Consultant who "warned"me about the "dangerous"those Galeries can be, etc , etc..

And so I was thinking about participating in this book, getting all the info. I could about it..All they ask is for me to buy 2 pieces of the book, and they will place my art and a small resume in one of their pages.

There site looks nice, information is clean and accurate, and it seemed a good deal for me to participate. As I said before, you need to be part of  a system to be able to get known and to sell you work more regularly.

So I'm waiting to see the outcome of it.
