I decided to start a new serie of 8 paintings.
This one, about a social subject that caught my attention: the "burcas". "A burqa (Arabic pronunciation: [ˈbʊrqʊʕ, ˈbʊrqɑʕ]a; also transliterated burkha, burka or burqu' from Arabic: برقع burquʻ or burqaʻ) is an enveloping outer garment worn by women in some Islamic traditions to cover their bodies when in public."
I believe it's a lso a way to cut liberty and freedom of expression from women who can't or are not allow to express themselves , to culture themselves, or even to show themselves in a public.
With my paintings I want to show the "burqa' , but worn by women who have nothing to do with islamic culture.
For instance, a woman from Portugal, or from Mexico, or from Argentina, but all of them become " the same". or become " invisible" by wearing that piece of clothes in their heads. What I try to express with this is the anguish, the lack of expression they have, even though they belong to different countries.
As for now, I'm working on my first one:
